Gyms In The USA
Currency approximation : €1 = US$1.17, £1 = US$1.31, AU$1 = US$0.74 at the time of writing.
Gyms in the USA are some of the best I’ve seen in the world. Americans don’t do things by halves and gyms are no exception. Almost without exception, every gym I went to was large+, modern and in great condition. The downside of this is the price tag. They are without a doubt the most expensive gyms I’ve been to in the world.

Free Passes?
Maybe. But with many gyms enforcing proof of residency before honouring a free pass, you’ll have your work cut out for you. By far the easiest option was Planet Fitness, who offer a quibble-free free pass on their website at each of their locations. I literally never had a problem getting in to any of their clubs and I wasn’t given the hard sell either. Planet Fitness Clubs are great to work out in, although if you like using free weights to train heavy, you might not find exactly what you need – click on individual clubs for info.
If free passes fail, day passes ranged from US$10 – $30, with most being around $20 – ouch.
My advice: register online, turn up with ID and practise your negotiating skills.
