Location

Siem Reap Fit is situated close to the centre, 1km West of the river, as well as being 1km directly West of Angkor Inter Fitness. Its location on Google is accurate and it’s easy to spot from the street, being a stand-alone building.

Facilities

This fairly large gym is superb value for $1! It has everything most people would need, and all equipment is in at least reasonable condition. The only thing I missed was aircon, although at 7:00am when I attended, I found fans were sufficient – once they turned them on. As I was the first to arrive, I expect they leave them off until they have customers. You’ll probably need to position yourself in line of one to get the full benefit.

Weights

There’s a full rack of dumbbell free-weights and they go up to generous 50kg. You’ll also find many adjustable barbells and numerous benches to use for your weight-training. I saw a variety of bench presses at varying angles, and if you fancy some press-ups, there are some bars you can use prevent pain from wrist extension.

You’ll find the usual pull-up bars, cable crossovers, Smith machine and a couple of squat racks. There’s a generous variety of resistance equipment too.

Functional Training and the Studio

I found a LOT of floor space at the back of this gym! Apart from a couple of squat racks, there’s a load of free space there which you can use for your own training. You’ll find yoga mats and a big range of kettlebells. That’s your lot though for functional equipment.

Additionally there’s a fairly large studio containing yoga mats. The sign on the door states there’s a free yoga class from 18:00 – 19:00! However I trained in the morning so I didn’t get to see/do it.

Cardio

Considering the size of the gym, the cardio area is smaller than some. However I found 3 treadmills, 2 crosstrainers and 4 spin bikes at front of the gym. There’s also a rower, strangely located at the back of the room.

Summary

Siem Reap Fit is super value at $1 a go – the price even includes a workout towel! The only drawbacks were a lack of aircon and a limited range of functional equipment. If you can survive without these, I definitely recommend this gym for the price! Take water with you.
