Location and Entry
It was a Saturday morning, I’d just arrived in Wellington and I was in need of a workout. Having been rejected from Jetts (free trial is only valid Mon – Thu), I stumbled across this place, just two minutes before it opened at 1100 and decided to wait outside. Right on time, a friendly lady greeted me and I asked how much it cost to use the gym. She asked me if I just wanted to come once and I said yes, once or twice. She replied immediately that I could use it for free once and that it would be $20 thereafter – no questions about residency asked. Wonderful.
Facilities
The facilities all looked brand new in this medium-sized central gym, and it soon became apparent to me that it was a ladies only club. How? Because I could lift the maximum weight (or close to it) on a number of the resistance machines!
One room, the staff explained, is used as a circuit training room; this has mostly fixed-weight resistance machines around the sides of the room as well as some free weights, and some mats and floor space in the middle. The other significant room has cardio equipment and further free weights and there is additionally a studio linking to this with more equipment. As a class was in progress by the time I spotted this, I could not enter.

The lockers and changing rooms were all in excellent condition and the club was a comfortable temperature. It’s actually one of the favourite clubs of my travels, partly because I discovered it almost by chance (there wasn’t much info about it on Google so I hadn’t paid much attention to it) and partly because of the music playing – I must have downloaded at least half a playlist out of the tracks I heard there!
Although quiet when I went, I can imagine that due to its size and central location, it may well get busy at peak times.
Summary
I definitely recommend going once, although the standard casual rate is pretty high, so I’d seek other options thereafter.
