1. Forme Fitness Rotorua
1233 Pukuatua Street
Opening hours: The club is staffed from 1000-1600 Monday to Friday, but a 24 hour access card can be acquired.
Cost: Current promotion is $5 per day or $12.95 per week.
***Please note, this is a LADIES ONLY gym***
At the time of writing, Google states the gym name to be Ladies Balance Fitness – I learnt that this is the old name of it and currently it hasn’t been updated.
Location and Entry
I walked in to this centrally located gym to enquire about rates and learnt that it is usually $15. Staff were extremely friendly – when I asked about backpacker discounts, she told me I could use it for free once! Thank you very much. I learnt that management has recently changed, hence the new name and they are offering a reduced rate of $5 per day to backpackers or $12.95 as a short-term weekly pass – fantastic value.
Facilities
This medium sized gym contains very modern equipment – cardio, resistance machines and free weights. I discovered plenty of floor space for mats, including a long corridor where you can take Swiss balls etc and do burpees in relative privacy.
Comfort – fans were on and this was sufficient the day I trained. Both toilets and showers were very clean.
Overall, superb value for money – I highly recommend going!
2. HT Fitness Rotorua
Due to my short stay here and free entry to Forme Fitness Rotorua (not to mention constant pouring rain), I didn’t visit any other gyms, but am aware of another centrally located gym, HT Fitness, which appears to be focussed on powerlifting and also charges $5 a visit. Probably worth a look for you lifters! See website for further details.
