Location
Olympic Fitness Center Hue was the most central gym I could find of all gyms in Hue, which generally seems rather spread out. I had limited time there and was staying centrally, so this was the obvious, if not the only practical option. You’ll find it just across form the stadium, clearly marked and correctly located on Google Maps.
Facilities
Olympic Fitness Center Hue has 3 floors, the top of which is a sizeable studio for classes. The ground floor and first floor comprise the main gym, with the ground floor just hosting the cardio equipment and the first floor having everything else.
I was here at the end of May during a heatwave and was pleased to experience the aircon. It’s not perfect and it varies depending on which part of the room you’re in, but it definitely helps a lot!
The facilities here are modern, attractive and in good condition. Whilst the daily rate is a little pricey for Vietnam, it’s justified if you don’t have transport to go to gyms further out of town.
Also, if you plan to shower here, the facilities are some of the best I’ve seen in Vietnamese changing rooms! There are multiple showers in attractive, spacious changing rooms.
Weights
All the weight training equipment is located up one floor in the main gym area. You’ll find dumbbells in 2kg increments up to 34kg, along with a set of 40kg dumbbells. (I didn’t find anything between 34 and 40kg but this didn’t bother me personally. 🙂 ) You’ll also find barbells up to 30kg, both straight and curled.
Olympic Fitness Center Hue also has a good mix of pin-operated and plate-loadable resistance machines for both the upper and lower body.
Additionally I found 3 squat racks and a Smith machine, as well as a couple of sets of pull up bars and other duplicates of popular machines such as the lat pull down.
You’ll also find various benches including abs benches and dedicated bench presses.
Functional Equipment and Boxing
What I liked about Olympic Fitness Center Hue was that it’s a very spacious gym, with a dedicated floor space area. You’ll also a find a fair amount of functional training equipment, including a variety of medicine balls, kettle bells, Swiss balls and power packs. There are also a couple of stepboards, BOSUs, plyoboxes, a large tyre and a couple of foam rollers.
If you’re into boxing, there’s a ring at the back of the gym with related equipment too!
Cardio
The Olympic Fitness Center has a reasonable amount of cardio equipment, although given its size, I would have hoped for more. You’ll find 8 treadmills, two crosstrainers, one Spin bike, one recumbent and one upright bike. These are in a dedicated cardio area on the ground floor, facing the street.
Studio
If you head on up to the top floor from the gym, you’ll find a yoga studio. There was a class in progress when I visited and a sea of faces looking at me, hence not taking any pics!
Summary of Olympic Fitness Center – Gym in Hue
If you’re looking for a gym in Hue, I recommend the Olympic Fitness Center Hue and would use it again if I went back there. Whilst you might find cheaper gyms further out, the location, range and quality of equipment and aircon made this well worth the money for me. Note that on Sundays it is not open in the mornings.
